Community Service Day
Join the organizers of the 2024 Window Dressers Community Build to build insulating window inserts for community members living in Hartford, Hartland, Sharon and a few adjacent towns. These inserts help local households save on heating costs during the winter.
Each simple job is taught, and all tools and materials are provided. No experience necessary. Lunch will be provided from 12-1 pm on all days with morning/afternoon shifts. Dinner will be provided from 5-6 pm on days with evening shifts. All volunteers must be vaccinated for COVID. Masking requirements will align with CDC recommendations at the time of the build.
This year's build location is at the White River VFW— 97 S Main St, White River Junction, VT 05001. The build will run from October 3rd to the 9th.

Community Farm Day with Willing Hands
Come spend a Saturday morning helping fight food shortages in the Upper Valley Community! The Service Committee is holding a community farm day on the Willing Hands farm to help maintain and harvest crops that will be sent directly to food banks in the area. Free breakfast and coffee will be provided by Cedar Circle Farmstand afterwards. Spots are limited!
Chad Hero 5k
GSC members Kathryn Bates and Camilo Castelblanco support the efforts of the CHaD HERO race, benefitting Dartmouth Health Children’s and Children’s Hospital.
If you are interested in volunteering in the Kid's Zone, which is the part we are helping to organize, please use the password: GRADMAGIC.

Community Gardening Volunteering
Wednesday October 4th from 4:30-6:30 the Graduate Student Community Service Team and GSC Community Service Committee will be volunteering with Willing Hands again to plant apple trees and berry plants at the Farmacy Garden by DHMC. The Advance Transit blue line runs to DHMC parking lot right next to the gardens.

Saturday September 9th we will be helping Willing Hands at Cedar Garden to help at the community garden in East Thetford! Please be prepared to do outdoor work, wear close toed shoes, and bring a water bottle!
If you need a ride there will be carpooling pick-up between 8:00-8:40, to try and get there around 9. We will volunteer until lunch time (noonish).

Saturday September 2nd we will be helping Upper Valley Trail Alliance maintain/build hiking trails! Please be prepared to do outdoor work, wear close-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle!
If you need a ride there will be carpooling pick up between 8:30-9:00, to try and get there around 9:30. We will volunteer until lunch time (12:30ish).

Service Gala & Semi Formal
Join us for the first ever charity auction where our community will be auctioning their skills and talents! All proceeds will go to the Indus Hospital and Health Network and the Edhi Foundation benefiting those affected by the disastrous flooding in Pakistan.

Where's Your Dairy From?
More than 70% of workers in Vermont’s dairy farms are immigrants without SSN, health insurance, recognition, etc. The event's goal is to raise awareness among Dartmouth’s students and faculty about the existence and needs of this population. To do so, FUERZA will invite a couple of workers from the farms to share their stories and interact with the attendees.
Hixon House Dinner
Fun chance to be able to cook with other grad students for a great cause! Grad students led by the GSC-Service Committee will come together to prepare a meal for the Upper Valley Hixon House, Adult Shelter. January 20th from 4:30 to 7 pm/when we are done cooking - We will start cooking at 4:30 but you are able to stop by when available and leave when done preparing your designated dish. Sign up at link
Be the Match Tabling
Help get students signed up to be on the Bone Marrow Registry! By doing a simple and quick swab students can become part of the Bone Marrow Registry and potentially save someone's life!
We will be tabling all day January 10th, 11th, and 13th (8AM-5:30PM) in the LSC Lobby. Tabling sign-ups are in 30-minute increments! Any time you can help would be greatly appreciated!
There will be a short informative online training for you before your tabling time so you feel prepared!
