Representative Elections
Every September, the GSC elects new (or returning) representatives from each program within Guarini. Any Guarini graduate student can apply or nominate a peer. One representative is elected per 25 graduate students in a program. Check out information about the election process and representative responsibilities below!
2024-2025 General Body Elections
The 2024-2025 General Body Election cycle has come to a close. Thank you to everyone who nominated others, and ran for positions! Keep an eye out for good candidates for next year.
There are some vacant seats left on the General Body, listed below. Fill out the Vacant Seat Interest Form if you are interested in filling a position!
The election happens in 4 phases:
Nominate
Nominate a friend, someone you think would be great, or yourself to be your department’s representative for the Graduate Student Council.
Acceptance #1
Accept the nomination, deciding to run for GSC in the coming weeks. Think about your platform, and write a statement about your qualifications.
Vote
Vote for the candidates that you approve of to be a representative for your department here. Select as many as you believe would be good to be a representative.
Acceptance #2
Accept your newly elected position, and start your tenure off strong by attending your first General Body Meeting alongside your outgoing representative. Sign up for a committee, and start working towards your goals!
Becoming a General Body Member
Join the Graduate Student Council by becoming a representative for your department this September.
Responsibilities
Each GSC representative will choose one council committee to be a part of for their term (October to September of the following year). They will also be responsible for keeping their department up to date on news within the GSC, and volunteering for at least 1 social event.
Run
Accept your nomination and propose what you will do to represent your department in the GSC. Elections will be held during the 4th week of September. You’ll be notified if you have been chosen by your peers.
